How to choose a DTF TPU powder? (types, weights, finish)

Poudre TPU DTF blanche et film DTF imprimé – consommable pour transfert textile

The choice of TPU DTF powder directly influences the quality of the transfer: flexibility, durability, washability, visual appearance, textile compatibility, etc. However, not all powders are created equal. Must Technologie explains the key differences and helps you choose the DTF powder best suited to your production.

1. Why is TPU powder essential in DTF?

The TPU powder acts as a thermal adhesive between the film and the textile. It is what determines:

  • wash resistance ,
  • the flexibility of the transfer,
  • resistance to cracking ,
  • compatibility with technical textiles ,
  • the level of gloss or matte finish.

In summary: even the best printer will not produce a beautiful result without quality TPU powder.

2. The 3 types of TPU DTF powders (and their uses)

Must Technologie offers three premium products, each tailored to a specific need: resistance, versatility or technical textile.

1. MT-01 TPU Powder — The benchmark for maximum resistance

Ideal for everyday clothing and textiles subjected to frequent washing.

  • Temperature: 140–160°C
  • Pressure: 1 to 3 bar
  • Time: 8–15 s
  • Wash resistance at 60°C: Excellent

👉 MT-01 TPU Powder – Resistant to 40°C and 60°C

2. MT-02 TPU Powder — The ultimate all-purpose powder

Easy to use, it offers a good balance between flexibility, fusion and durability.

  • Temperature: 130–170°C
  • Pressure: 3 to 5 bar
  • Time: 5–15 s
  • Wash resistance at 60°C: Good

👉 MT-02 TPU Powder – Versatile & easy to use

3. AS01 TPU Powder — Anti-migration for polyester

Designed specifically for polyester textiles, it prevents the migration of pigments from the fabric into the ink — essential for sportswear.

  • Temperature: 120–150°C
  • Pressure: 1 to 3 bar
  • Time: 8–15 s
  • Wash resistance at 60°C: Excellent

👉 TPU Powder AS01 – Anti-migration polyester

3. How to choose your TPU powder according to the textile?

  • Cotton, sweatshirts, hoodies → MT-01 Better performance on thick fabrics and intensive washing.
  • Polyester, sportswear, jerseys → AS01 Prevents dye migration.
  • T-shirts, tote bags, mixed textiles → MT-02 The versatile choice for the majority of productions.

👉 Must Technology Tip: For dark polyester textiles, AS01 is essential.

4. Paper weight and fineness: absolutely not to be overlooked

Two powders may look identical, but their particle size completely changes the final result:

  • Fine powder → finer texture, softer feel, better blending
  • Standard powder → stronger adhesion, more structured transfer

A powder that is too coarse can:

  • decrease flexibility,
  • increase the thickness,
  • react badly during pressing.

Must Tech powders are selected to offer an ideal compromise between fineness, fusion and strength.

5. Which powder should I use for a 60°C wash?

If your customers require enhanced wash resistance, two products are essential:

  • MT-01 – Excellent resistance to 60°C
  • AS01 – Designed to withstand even polyester

6. Trade rates: savings on bulk and pallet orders

For professional workshops, Must Technologie offers significant discounts for bulk purchases, with a greatly reduced price per kilo on:

  • MT-01
  • MT-02
  • AS01

👉 Volume discounts are available on the collection page: View prices per set

Conclusion: Which DTF TPU powder should you choose?

The choice depends primarily on the type of fabric and the desired durability:

  • MT-01 → better wash resistance (40°C & 60°C)
  • MT-02 → versatility, simplicity, good value for money
  • AS01 → anti-migration polyester textile

By combining the right TPU powder with a shaker and premium films , you optimize the quality of all your DTF transfers.
